Description

Our department has the privilege of hosting the MOTH Syntax Workshop (Montreal-Ottawa-Toronto-Hamilton) this year, which will be held in just two short weeks on Monday, April 7. The programme has been released, featuring a wide variety of talks on different aspects of, and approaches to, syntactic structure.

Pre-registration is open—we hope you will attend! If you are attending, please fill out the pre-registration form as soon as possible to allow us an accurate estimate of numbers for food-ordering and dinner-booking purposes. Fees will be payable upon arrival at the conference on April 7 (cash or e-transfer).

This year, we are delighted to welcome Prof. Alison Biggs as our invited speaker. Alison Biggs is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Linguistics & Languages at McMaster University. She received her PhD from the University of Cambridge and previously held research and teaching positions at UPenn and Georgetown. Her research is in syntax and its interfaces with morphology and semantics, with a particular focus on argument structure and category. More broadly she is interested in the possible and impossible ways in which morphosyntax can vary cross-linguistically.
