On March 28, 2025, the Linguistics Graduate Course Union (LGCU) hosted the 2025 Linguistics Coffeehouse, an informal show featuring various art performances (music and poetry) from department members. Money raised from this event will go to the Comunidad Lingüística Itza' (Itza' Linguistic Community), an organization working for the revitalization of the Mayan language Itza' in Guatemala. In particular, the funds will go towards recording Itza' speakers in order to add these recordings to the Itza' digital grammar to help in the creation of pedagogical materials. The LGCU is excited to report that the event raised $1,309.95!

The deparment acknowledges and thanks each member of the LGCU Social Committee for organizing and planning the event: Claudia, Christy, Colin, Khushi, Laura E., Martin, and Nick.

And thank you to everyone for all your contributions and support!
